Overview

Do you need a Mississippi roofing contractor license?

Mississippi licenses roofing through the State Board of Contractors (MSBOC). Residential roofs on homes up to 3 stories fall under the Residential Roofer license, while unlimited roofing and siding work needs the Roofing, Sheet Metal & Siding license.

License required when

  • You install or repair residential roofs on homes up to 3 stories (Residential Roofer)
  • You do unlimited roofing and siding installation and repair (Roofing, Sheet Metal & Siding)
  • You bid or contract for that roofing work as a business

Common exceptions

  • Our source notes don’t list specific exemptions
  • Ask MSBOC before you skip licensing for any job

Penalties for unlicensed work

Our source notes don’t list specific penalty amounts. The Board can take enforcement action against anyone contracting without the required license.
